On April 21, 2020, the Board of Supervisors approved starting a pilot program to subsidize phone calls for individuals in custody. Through this pilot program, individuals have the opportunity to make up to seven 15-minute phone calls per week at no personal cost. This program was vital during COVID when in-person visitation was blocked. Through this pilot program, individuals were able to maintain communication with friends and family.
